Get involved!

Together, we can put maintenance in the spotlight – and make our vision a reality.
Global Maintenance Day is your opportunity to raise awareness about the essential role of maintenance in our daily lives, our economy, and our future. Whether online or offline, every initiative counts.

Here are some ways to participate and inspire others:

💬 Networks and Associations

  • Publish a joint statement or manifesto on the importance of maintenance for a resilient and sustainable society.
  • Host a roundtable or panel discussion on the importance of maintenance.
  • Encourage partners and suppliers to share their maintenance stories under the Global Maintenance Day banner.
  • Engage other organisations to jointly promote recognition of maintenance and maintenance professions.
  • Create a short video or meme to explain the importance of maintenance to a broad audience.

🔧 Companies and organizations

  • Display maintenance success stories on screens or posters throughout the facility.
  • Invite non-technical colleagues to shadow the maintenance team for a day.
  • Organize a company visit or technical workshop to showcase your maintenance team’s work
  • Nominate your maintenance team for recognition in an internal or public spotlight campaign.
  • Publish a feature article or interview about your maintenance practices or team on your intranet, newsletter, or LinkedIn page.
  • Conduct a “Maintenance Maturity Scan” or self-assessment and share insights for improvement.
  • Hold an open maintenance challenge: suggest small improvements or detect minor failures together.

🧠 Reach out to the Next Generation

  • Partner with a local school or technical institute to give a talk or interactive session on maintenance and maintenance careers.
  • Create educational infographics explaining the benefits of preventive maintenance in daily life of kids, youngsters and their families.
  • Host a maintenance-themed quiz or trivia contest at your organization or online.
  • Invite a local school or technical institute to your facility and show maintenance being planned and executed.

📣 Reach out to the General Public

  • Create and share videos highlighting the value and impact of maintenance
  • Share Global Maintenance Day on social media
  • Organize a public exhibition or pop-up stand in a community space (e.g. library, town hall) on how maintenance affects society.
  • Collaborate with a local maker space or repair café to host a community maintenance day.
  • Host a maintenance afternoon with friends, family, or colleagues – clean, check and maintain everyday equipment.
  • Propose a media feature in local press, radio or podcast about “A Day in the Life of a Maintenance Technician.”

🌍 Focussing on Sustainability

  • Start a campaign within your company to promote maintenance practices that reduce waste and emissions.
  • Collect and repair unused or broken tools/equipment and donate them to local charities or schools.
  • Organize a “maintenance walk-around” day where small faults and energy inefficiencies are identified and reported.
  • Share best practices on energy-efficient maintenance (e.g. lubrication, filter maintenance, compressed air leak prevention,…).

Excited to kick off one of these initiatives? Have your own idea? Great!

Let us know what initiative you or your organization will take. Every action, small or large, helps build recognition for the people and practices that keep our world running.
